In this Beginners Level course, our Ayurvedic Lifestyle Practitioners, Nadia Moore & Sarah Dunfee and Ayurvedic Doctor, Dr. Veena Balkrishna, will introduce you to the essential principles of this 5,000 year old Indian Medicine system and how you can apply them in your own life. This course contributes to 15 Hours of Continuing Professional Development and you will receive a 15-Hour Certificate in Ayurveda from Yoga Alliance, upon completion of the course.

Sarah Dunfee will be teach the Foods for your Dosha & Ayurvedic Treatments and Nadia will be teaching the Three Doshas & their qualities & characteristics. Dr. Veena Balkrishna will be teaching The 7 Stages of Disease.

Sarah completed her 200 Hr Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training in Mysore, India and she is a Professional Member of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) and studied Ayurvedic Medicine at The Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, which was set up by world-renowned Ayurvedic doctor, Vasant Lad. Nadia completed an Ayurvedic Practitioner training with Yoga International and also attended courses with Dr. Donn Brennan from the Irish Ayurveda Centre. She did her 200 Hour training in Sama Karuna, Thailand & completed further training with Kino McGregor, Josh Summers & Lucy Weir.

Dr. Veena Balkrishna


Daughter of an Indian father and a Portuguese mother, Dr. Veena was born in the Alps, France – Aix-En-Provence – but grew up in the Monchique Mountains where she spent her teens and studied. She decided to return to her origins, leaving Portugal to take her Ayurvedic medicine course in India and to study deeply one of the oldest medicines in the history of mankind.

The great interest and recognized effectiveness of Ayurvedic treatments led Veena Balkrishna to deepen her knowledge of this ancient medicine, so she studied Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery in Gujarat Ayurved University, one of the most reputable in India. She also specialises in Panchakarma therapies – treatments for chronic and profound illnesses such as obesity, migraines, psoriasis, stress / anxiety, depression, gastritis, arthritis, osteoporosis, among others – and Rasayana or rejuvenation therapy.


In 2010, she completed the course and took a one-year internship at Shree Gulabkunverba Ayurved Hospital, Jamnagar, which is linked to the same university on the west coast of India. She also acquired specialized training in Recovery Massage at the National Union of Recovery Masseurs and Kinesiotherapists, Lisbon, Portugal (2005) and Panchakarma at the Sidheshwari Research Institute of Ayurvedam, Hyderabad, India (2006). There are also disciplinary areas of her medical education such as Anatomy, Pathology, Physiology, Biomechanics, Electrology / Hydrology, Massage Techniques; General Practice, Panchakarma, Gynecology, Obstetrics, Otorhinolaryngology, Pediatrics and Surgery. Dr. Veena Balkrishna Fernandes currently resides in Portugal where she works as an Ayurvedic Doctor in Monchique, Lagoa, Almancil, Lisbon and Porto.
